inazuma eleven - season two (📺 8/10)

why doesn't the big fubuki eat the little fubuki...? [8/10]

love this season more than the last despite the crazy "aliens will destroy and take over the world through soccer" premise which was revealed at the end to not be aliens but instead children bioengineered to become military grade weapons but they choose soccer as a means of taking control because the prime minister loves soccer so much. it's genuinely so crazy that i have no clue how we'll jump from that to boring ol' internationals in the next season like what the fuck!!

this season's cast was way more enjoyable and memorable than the last too. i guess because they all have their spotlight moments. there's a point to be made with the older cast (the ones that got injured in the first gemini storm match i mean) and how they're kind of losers BECAUSE it was to set up season two's final episodes... and honestly, yeah i guess that checks out! i can't complain, since it makes a good point of throwing away the weak to replace them with the strong but oh my god i could not care less about those characters. with the exception of someoka and kazemaru(?). someoka was very funny in the few episodes after gouenji temporarily quits raimon he was SUCH a hater towards fubuki even though the latter is the equivalent of a wet puppy in a soggy cardboard box in the rain (snow). and kazemaru i feel like was building up to this moment of taking power for himself because of his own weakness, so seeing him at the very end definitely made sense. that said, i REALLY like the new cast additions!! i am very biased towards fubuki (he is so very baby i know i'd love him if i ever got to this point when i was still watching as a kid), but everyone else is lovely :] touko is fun and i really like the tower, rika is cute and i also like butterfly dream (i am also super biased in saying i LOVE the all girls osaka team they are very girlycutes). i've been told that there are zero girls in the internationals lineup in s3 which i think is INCREDIBLY FUCKED UP!! tsunami is cool he reminds me of sanah from fragmem... and the little pointy ear frog kid whose name i forgot IM SORRYYY but i like him too. his and fubuki's backstories were sad...

the aliens (or i guess the aliea kids) were also a fun cast. honestly shocked me at just how many teams were there, but it makes sense for the season to be focused on them at least. gemini storm is a little boring BUT desarm and his team rock... desarm is so fucking cool, my partner explained the parallels between him and endou. endou likes to encourage his team to do better and inspires them, but desarm does the opposite by berating raimon and insulting and taunting them and wanting to do better... i like that he takes a dual role as GK and forward and my partner pointed it out too that it's like endou in a way, because they both just go up the field when they need to. both characters share that intense passion for soccer, and i like that despite everything, desarm is a good sport. wanting to play with raimon on equal footing, accepting that he's lost. sad that he gets blasted when he lost, but i think aliea comes back in season 3...? who knows!! he's my favorite aliea kid, but i like the gran-burn-gazelle trio too. i think it's funny though that gran looks 1:1 like that old guy's dead son, but they address that at some point down the line by making hiroto look different... just think it's very silly in that context!

lots of cool moments too methinks, especially with the true teikoku academy stuff. and because i'm biased i also really like fubuki... too bad about his brother though because from what my partner is showing me of ares, he seemed neat. OH ALSO GOUENJI SHOWING UP AGAIN that was soo cool even though he wasn't fooling anyone with his "disguise" and stuff lol.

fun season!! dunno how they'll top that going into internationals, but i still look forward to it :D
